Mr. Karg has been working in the field of energy management since 1980. He
is a consultant to the Department of Energy and the National Renewable
Energy Lab, an editorial advisor for Home Energy magazine, a member of
the ASHRAE 62.2 committee for residential ventilation and served as a policy
advisor for the California Energy Commission's Residential Energy Savings
from Air-tightness and Ventilation Excellence (RESAVE) Program. He has trained energy
auditors in Maine and elsewhere since 1980, was a primary
contractor/consultant/trainer for the Maine Home Performance Program
(Efficiency Maine 2006 - 2009) and is the energy representative on the board
for the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code. Karg regularly presents at
the Affordable Comfort Conference and the National Weatherization Conference
and various regional weatherization conferences. He has written technical
weatherization standards for ten states, was co-author of the “Midwest
Weatherization Best Practices Field Guide”, and primary author of the
“Ohio Home Weatherization Assistance Program Training Evaluation”. He is
the author of the ZipTest Pro3
building diagnostics software and ResVent 62.2,
an application for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. In 2011 Rick joined
with Dr. Charlie Holly to form Residential
Energy Dynamics (RED), a firm dedicated to providing innovative web
applications to energy analysts.
